Krispy Kreme

Perhaps it was the scent of refined sugar that just drew us in...

After going out for some very tasty chinese food for dinner, we boldly considered ordering dessert. This is unusual for me since I'm almost always far too stuffed to even consider such a thing. When the waiter brought the menu, some of the offerings sounded worthwhile, but then I saw the right column. I'm not sure if I believe in the existence of a $7 bowl of sorbet. Theoretically, it could exist, but I haven't seen one yet. Since my dining companions shared my feelings of overpriced desserts, we thought that we would go somewhere else to pick up some dessert.

Our first stop of the sugar lust tour was Royal Farms. It was a short walk from the restaurant. We thought that we would just pick up a couple pints of ice cream. Then Alyson mentioned the dangerous idea...Krispy Kreme. I said that they have hot doughnuts every morning and night so that there was a good chance that the magical hot doughnut sign would be lit. That was all I needed to convince Alison to get back in the car and head towards that glowing neon sign.

I had never taken advantage of the large seating area at the Krispy Kreme. The four of us didn't polish off the entire dozen hot doughnuts, but we were close. Maybe next time we'll plan slightly better and not go right after a huge meal.
