Just a few Post-Its®

And I thought Filly like to Post-It® people's offices. She hasn't seen anything yet!

Here's one shot from Interactive tools, but there are many more at the site.

EcoHouse

It may just be a Malaysian engineering project, but the EcoHouse shows the power of fuel cells, photovoltaic cells, and most importantly creative design.

DaVinci Code

Joy of Tech has a cartoon about The DaVinci Code. Just remember, there's always the movie.

Interesting Way to Get Your News

Marumushi.com has introduced newsmap. It is described as "an application that visually reflects the constantly changing landscape of the Google News news aggregator." Definitely worth a look.

Pirate Keyboard

I found this at moblog. I think it's hilarious!

Sterilized for mass enjoyment

Should everything be sterilized for mass enjoyment?

So the NBA playoffs start today. As with many sporting events, there was a musical introduction. As I listened, I was surprised by the song choice. Not surprising was that the Black Eyed Peas were doing the intro, but that the song was Let's Get Retarded. Or as it was sanitized for the ESPN / ABC / DISNEY machine "Let's Get it Started".

I know that not all content is appropriate for all ages. I guess I am just disappointed.

If it smells like pork...

The Iowa Environmental/Education Project is trying to bring a 4.5 acre indoor rainforest to Iowa City.

Remember when you hear the cost in billions, multiply by 4 for your personal share (e.g. $2 billion -> $8 cost for you and everyone else you know). With a topic this hot even Dave Barry is getting into the action.

Chipotle

So I finally managed to eat at Chipotle.

Let me start off with the ordering process. I don't want to say that it was reminiscent of the Soup Nazi since that has become a cliché, but I did get in trouble for asking for guacamole from the wrong person in line. I think now that I've got the hang of it, there shouldn't be any problems next time.

The other hitch was that the tables are bolted to the floor. This makes it almost impossible to go to eat with a party of more than four people.

Overall, it's definitely worth a shot. If you are expecting something like Baja Fresh, you might be disappointed because the menu is much smaller, but Chipotle is clearly head and shoulders above that other Mexican fast food chain.

NCAA Men's Basketball Finals

Even if Syracuse is out of the running, the Final Four goes on anyway. UConn and Georgia Tech meet up in San Antonio to crown a national champion.

You call that a cruise?

This seems strange to me, but you can pay people to take you to the Antarctic. This privilege isn't cheap either.

For what could be a nice down payment on a house, you have the honor of reserving a space in a double occupancy room (single room extra). The topper seems to be after all of that you end up in the Antarctic.

"[Elephant Island is a] rugged and isolated island is located off the northeastern end of the South Shetland Islands chain." In case you thought that the Antarctic was frigid already, they remind you that this is where previous met their demise. Maybe I'm a little to conservative but my vacations don't involve kayaking in icy water or other near death experiences.

Lest you be concerned that the market on crazy had been cornered, other companies offer a selection of other strange "vacations." I'll be the first to admit that I don't understand the business models of other cruise companies. Then again, my idea of fun isn't learning mySQL on my vacation.

D.C. United

So D.C. United won their first game of the season today. More notable was the debut of 14 year old Freddie Adu.

So the first thing I thought about when I heard that a 14 year old was turning pro was, "What about school?" Would Freddie Adu have a tutor until he was sixteen? As 60 Minutes reported: "But before his professional debut, Freddy's mom insisted on one more thing: that he complete an accelerated academic program for athletes in Florida that allowed him, at 14, to finish high school."

I guess it's one thing that Kobe and T-Mac didn't go to college, but it seems kind of crazy to race through school to turn pro. Is waiting until you're sixteen or seventeen really too much to ask?

Fountains of Wayne

I just picked up the new Fountains of Wayne CD. You probably know it best for the single Stacy's Mom. I'm not a huge fan of that track, but the others are even better. Besides, it gives you another chance to play, "One of these things just doesn't belong." If you haven't checked it out, stop by the iTunes music store or Amazon.

Chipotle

A new Chipotle opened near me. I stopped by to see what all of the fuss is about, but the line was out the door. I am not as attached to Chipotle as Jon, but then again, who is. PvPonline even had a strip about the phenomenon that is Chipotle.
